Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on the requirements and needs of the client families.  Listed below are the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

  • Current or very recent child care employment; a minimum of one (1) year full time experience.  Candidates with less experience are considered if they possess a 2 year or 4 year college degree in a child related field.
  • At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or personal friends.
  • Own a safe, insured vehicle
  • Good driving record
  • Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a nanny job.
  • 21 or older
  • Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We do not do summer only placements.

Additional qualifiers that are helpful, but not required:

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification
  • Post secondary education specific to child care, education or related field

 


NANNY POSITIONS (full and part time, all are live out unless noted)

Location: Chanhassen, near Excelsior on Highway 7
Children:  2 year old boy, 4 year old girl, 11 1/2 year old boy and 14 1/2 year old girl
Compensation:  Up to $45,000 annually, $3750 per month, depending on duties, hours and qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, paid sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance
Schedule:  This family requires a nanny who is willing to work a flexible schedule. There are some weeks that are full time Monday through Friday; nanny would need to be able to work as early as 6:30 AM to as late 8:00 PM. These weeks could be 50 or more hours per week. These full time weeks are offset by weeks that are part time and fewer hours. The total hours typically not to exceed 150 per month and the family does know their schedule in advance. It is rare that weekend hours are required. There is an opportunity for additional hours if the nanny would like to assume more household management responsibilities.   
Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with toddler to teen age children, experience with children on Autism Spectrum would be a plus
Description: The two younger children require full time child care and some before and after school care for the two older with occasional transportation to activities that are close to the home. The older girl has ADD and is active in afterschool activities. The 11 year old boy  has Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD so would benefit from a nanny who has experience caring for children with similar issues. This is a busy, fun, active and creative family with two imaginative engaging toddler/preschoolers. Their family enjoys unstructured playtime and prefers to spend time together rather than be overscheduled and stressed about extra driving and obligations. They have found that flexible schedules and thinking works best for them. With the parents' professional lives and diverse ages of the children, they "bloom where they are planted" and adapt to day to day challenges as they arise and embrace the energy around them. We have placed nannies with this family previously and their current nanny is pursuing a career change.

Type of Position: Part Time, 25 hours per week guaranteed, see below
Start Date:  ASAP
Location: Eagan
Children:  12 year old and 15 year old girls
Compensation: Up to $550 per week for an average of 25 hours
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days. Mileage or use of vehicle.
Hours/Days: Monday through Friday 2:00 to 5:30 PM plus approximately 7.5 flexible hours based on family's need and/or nanny's schedule. The summer schedule will change and is negotiable.
Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience. Experience with teens, ADHD and/or anxiety is preferred. Creative person is a plus.
Description: The parents are looking for a caring and active nanny who will be a support system, driver, and role model for their two adolescent daughters. Be available to pick up from school, take to activities and appointments. Supervise at home, help with homework, provide companionship. The additional 7.5 hours per week are to provide household management- errands, shopping, coordinate household maintenance etc.  These duties can be performed based on the nanny's schedule. This family employed the same nanny, referred through our service,  for 15 years. She is leaving due to changes in her personal life.
Pets: 1 Pug and 1 cat

Location: Eagan, the family probably will be moving to Edina in the next year
Children:  9 month old girl, there is also a 3 year old boy but he is in preschool full time
Compensation: To $810 per week, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days
Hours/Days: Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Additional Qualifiers: Previous experience caring for infants, CPR certified or willing to obtain
Description: The parents are seeking a very loving nanny who will care for their daughter. The older boy attends full time preschool. It is important to them that the nanny is a good communicator, attentive to details, trustworthy and safety conscious. They most likely only need a nanny for 9-10 months and plan to move to Edina during the year.

Type of Position: Part time, 10-20 hours per week
Start Date: Flexible
Location: Eden Prairie, near highways 494 and 169
Children:  3 boys- ages, 3, 11 and 13 years old
Compensation:  To $25 per hour, depending on qualifications
Schedule: The family would like someone who can be available one to three times per week, between 5-8  pm on weekdays and one weekend day or evening once or twice a month.
Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with preschool and school age boys
Description: The family has a full time nanny who cares for the 3 year old boy. In addition, they would like someone consistent who wants steady part time work helping the family 1 to 3 evenings per week (negotiable on a weekly basis depending on the nanny's schedule). This would involve varying responsibilities like helping to make dinner, helping the older two boys with homework or taking them to after school activities or playing/reading with the 3 year old boy while the parents make dinner/run errands etc. One or both parents will often be home during this time. The parents would also like this nanny to be available 1-2 weekend days or evenings per month for date nights.

Type of Position: Full time, 40 hours guaranteed, variable schedule (see below)

Location: Edina
Children:  5 month old boy
Compensation:  To $800 per week, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance
Schedule: Monday through Friday, some days are longer and some are shorter. The start time is usually between 7:00-7:30 and nanny is done no later than 5:00-6:00 pm. Some days start later or are done earlier. The mother typically knows her schedule a week in advance. If the nanny works more than 40 hours, she will be compensated for this.
Additional Qualifiers: Previous nanny experience with infants, knowledgeable in child development, love dogs
Description: The primary focus of this job is to engage with the child and provide him with love, nurturing and quality care. It's important that the nanny play, talk and read with him. They prefer that the care be provided in the home and there is large play space and big yard. It is important that the nanny enjoy and like dogs as the Yorkie was their first child! This is a great opportunity for long term employment.

Type of Position: Full time, 38 hours per week in four days

Children:  10 month old girl
Compensation:  To $20 per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance
Schedule: Monday and Friday 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Wednesday 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM and half day on Thursday which will alternate between 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM or 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, additional hours are available on Tuesdays if the nanny is available to work but this is not required. 
Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with infants, current CPR or willing to obtain, a background in child development is  plus.
Description: The parents are seeking an experienced nanny who is caring, responsible and dependable and can provide a safe loving stimulating environment for their daughter. They would like her to get out in the community as she gets older for socialization experiences. It's important that the nanny can provide her with activities that are age appropriate and encourage her growth and development. The parents would like the nanny to feel comfortable in their home, like part of the family and respected for her work. There is a grandmother who stays at the home 1-2 days some weeks during our 6 months of warmer weather. She requires no care and is not involved in the child care.

Compensation:  To $640 per week, depending on qualifications

Schedule: Monday through and Friday, 8 hours per day, start at 8:00 or 8:30 AM
Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with infants, current CPR and vaccinations or willing to obtain, training in childhood education is a plus
Description: Taking care of the baby is the priority of this job. There is no driving involved but walks in the neighborhood and to near by park are fine, weather permitting. Much of the year, there is a grandparent(s) visiting and staying in the home but they require no care and will not be involved in the child care.

Location: Minneapolis, Lake Harriet
Children:  3 month old boy/girls twins
Compensation:  Up to $25 per hour, $750 per week for average of 30 hours, depending on  qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, paid holidays and paid sick days
Schedule:  This family requires a nanny who is willing to work a flexible schedule. There is one 7 day work week per month that is very full time; Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM and 8 daytime hours on both Saturday and Sunday. This week could be 70 hours. This full time week is offset by three weeks per month that are very part time. Typically the nanny would work two 7 hour days during these three part time weeks and every Monday and Wednesday for 6 hours each of these days. The job averages to 30 hours per week and the family will pay a set salary.
Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with multiple infants, specific twins experience is preferred but not required and the nanny must be ok with the family dog
Description: The primary focus of this job is to provide quality care for the infant twins. The parents are seeking a nanny who is warm and affectionate with the children and personable. She must value reading and teaching children in the early stages of development.
Pets: One 145 -lb Bull Mastiff who is drooly, friendly and doesn't bark much

Type of Position: Full Time, 40 hours
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Minneapolis, Linden Hills
Children:  Twin girls who are almost 3 years old
Compensation: To $800 per week, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays and will provide a contribution to medical insurance
Hours/Days:  Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM The family can be a bit flexible on the schedule. They also would like the nanny to travel with them for 7-11 days, 2 to 3 times per year.
Additional Qualifiers: Previous experience caring for preschool age children, previous nanny experience, current CPR and First Aid or willing to obtain
Description: Seeking a kind, patient, creative and compassionate nanny who genuinely enjoys child care. This is a single parent household. It's important to the mother that the nanny is good at follow through and multitasking while remaining calm. While they are napping, the mother would like the nanny to do the girls' laundry, dinner prepping, general household pick up and toy organizing.
Pets: One Golden Retriever who is sweet and well trained


Type of Position: Full Time Home Manager, up to 40 hours per week
Start Date: February/March
Location: Shoreview
Children:  None
Compensation: $18 to $20 per hour
Benefits: Paid vacation and medical and dental insurance available for full time employment
Hours/Days: 30 to 40 hours, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, however flexibility is needed. There are times outside of this regular schedule that you need to drop off or pick up employers at the airport, 2-4 times per month.
Additional Qualifiers: Fitness minded and health conscious person who has personal experience  preparing for marathons, preparing healthy diets, is detail oriented with good communication skills
Description: This job is with a busy professional couple who is looking for a home manager with a focus on healthy and fit lifestyle. This person will prepare healthy meals/snacks/juices, run personal errands and perform housekeeping for their townhome. They have a very busy business schedule and are looking for someone to assist them in maintaining a healthy and organized life. The roles are estimated to be 50% meal prep, 30% shopping and errands and 20% housecleaning and laundry. They are seeking someone to be with them long term.

Compensation:  To $20 per hour, depending on qualifications

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Additional Qualifiers: Previous full time child care employment experience with infants and toddlers
Description: The parents are seeking an experienced nanny who is caring, responsible and energetic and will provide a safe loving stimulating environment for their children. They would like them to get outdoors and out in the community and are within walking distance of downtown Wayzata.  It's important that the nanny can provide them with activities that are age appropriate and encourage their growth and development. The older boy will attend preschool twice a week in the fall. This family is active and enjoys the outdoors and sports.
