At Nannies from the Heartland, Inc., we're committed to helping nannies find positive opportunities, which match their skills with a family's needs.  Listed below are our current job openings.  This list may not reflect all of our job opportunities and can change daily.

Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on the requirements and needs of the client families.  Listed below are the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

  • Current or very recent child care employment; a minimum of one (1) year full time experience.  Candidates with less experience are considered if they possess a 2 year or 4 year college degree in a child related field.
  • At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or personal friends.
  • Own a safe, insured vehicle
  • Good driving record
  • Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a nanny job.
  • 21 or older
  • Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We do not do summer only placements.

Additional qualifiers that are helpful, but not required:

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification
  • Post secondary education specific to child care, education or related field

LIVE-IN POSITIONS

 Type of Position: Full Time Nanny/Household Manager
 Start Date: ASAP
 Location: Western Suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota
 Children: Pre-teen/Teenage boys
 Compensation: Will vary, depending on experience and education
 Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays, large furnished private bedroom and bathroom, meals, vehicle provided for driving the children and will consider a contribution to medical insurance
 Hours/Days: This position requires the nanny to be flexible. Typically she will work 5 days per week. The job is 8-10 hours per day, usually split shift before school and then late afternoon/early evening, 3 to 4 days per week. This could include some weekend hours every other weekend. There will be times that the nanny is responsible for the boys overnight if parent travels.
 Additional Qualifiers:  Five to ten years of previous child care/live-in nanny experience or equivalent training/education required. It is preferred that the nanny be very physically active and have experience working with boys between the ages of 11-18 years. The nanny must be flexible, take initiative, be able to follow through independently, have a firm fair demeanor with the children, have strong detail orientation and a high degree of confidentiality.
 Description:  The nanny is responsible for providing care for the children's physical, emotional, intellectual and social development. She plans and prepares healthy meals, provides transportation, assists with homework as needed, maintains the children's' clothing and rooms, schedules appointments and maintains electronic calendars of the children's' schedules. In addition, she coordinates duties/activities of other household staff and outside vendors, does the grocery shopping and errands and assists with light housekeeping

LIVE OUT or IN POSITIONS

Type of Position: Full Time, average 40 hours per week, Live Out or In
Start Date: September 1
Location: Apple Valley
Children: 14, 12 and 8 year olds girls
Compensation: To $640 per week ($16 per hour), depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid holidays and vacation, vehicle available for driving the children
Hours/Days:  Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 2:00 to 9:00 PM, Friday 2:00 to 6:00 PM, some half days on Saturdays, ability to stay overnight if needed when father travels. This job requires the nanny to be flexible. She will be guaranteed a weekly salary based on 40 hours per week average.
Additional Qualifiers:  Experience with school age children, smart, patient and caring
Description:   The nanny is responsible for after school supervision of the girls, transportation for activities using the family vehicle, children's laundry,  help with snacks and dinner and help with homework. This is a single parent home and the father is seeking a nanny who will be a good role model for his daughters and encourage healthy eating and lifestyle choices. All the girls play soccer, one rides horses and they also have swimming, gymnastics and a variety of other activities.
Pets: One cat and one dog, both mellow and easy

LIVE-OUT POSITIONS (full and part time)

Type of Position: Full time, 40 hours per week
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Chaska
Children:  4 month old boy/girls twins, 5, 8 and 10 year old boys
Compensation: To $17 per hour, depending on experience and education
Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays
Hours/Days: Monday through Friday, 8 hour days, start between 7:00 to 9:00 AM and end between 3:00 to 6:00 PM, depending on the day and the older children's after school activities. The schedule can be planned out in advance.
Additional Qualifiers: Experience with multiple infants either as a nanny, home daycare provider and/or teacher in an infant room in a child care center, good energy level
Description: This is a parent helper position. The primary responsibility for the nanny is to help care for the babies when the older children are in school. There may be a need for assistance with the older children before and after school, depending on the day. Helping with laundry, dishes, meal preparation and general organization around the home is also expected. There will be times when the nanny is fully responsible for the twins when the mother is out of the home, napping and/or spending time with the older children.
Pets:  2 cats, hamster, mouse, and fish


Type of Position: Part Time, three evenings
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Deephaven
Children:   Six month old girl/boy twins
Compensation: To $20 per hour, depending on experience and education
Benefits: Bonuses on Christmas, birthday and 1st year anniversary
Hours/Days:   Tuesday, Thursday and either Friday or Saturday 6:00 PM to as late as midnight. They could consider a nanny starting a bit later than 6:00 and they could occasionally have some flexibility on which evenings the nanny works. There may be times that some daytime are hours available to cover for the daytime nanny.
Additional Qualifiers: This is an evening job so it will involve helping with the bedtime routine. Should a child wake, comforting the baby. Typically, both parents will be out of the home once the children are in bed.
Pets: 9 year old Schnauzer and 2 year old Bearded Collie, both are friendly and hypo allergenic


Type of Position: Part Time, approximately 31 hours, three days
Start Date: October 5
Location: Eden Prairie
Children:  9 month old boy
Compensation: To $16 per hour, depending on experience and education
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays, will consider a contribution to medical insurance
Hours/Days: Monday 7:00AM to 6:00PM, Wednesday 7:30AM to 5:30PM, Thursday 7:15AM to 5:30 PM, the family does need a nanny who can be a bit flexible on these times
Additional Qualifiers: Experience with infant and toddler age children, childcare related post secondary education is preferred but not required
Description: Childcare is the primary responsibility for the nanny. The little boy is very social and the parents would like the nanny to get out with him in the community; classes, library etc. They are looking for a nanny who will feel like family member and is genuinely interested in taking excellent care of their son.

Type of Position: Part Time, four afternoons
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Edina
Children:  8 and 4 year old girls
Compensation: To $14 per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays. The family provides a vehicle for driving the children.
Hours/Days:  Monday through Thursday 12:45 PM to 6:00 PM, total of 21 hours.
Additional Qualifiers: Experience with preschool and school age children, willing to work with the family for one year
Description: This job involves after school care for the girls.  The younger girl is picked up at 1:00 in the afternoon and the older girl at 4:00. Seeking a mature and experienced childcare provider who can educate the children. A nanny with a gentle and loving personality is the best fit for the girls. The girls attend a Montessori school and a Montessori educated nanny would be wonderful.

Type of Position: Full Time, Live Out
Start Date: November 1
Location: Minneapolis, Minnehaha Pkwy
Children: 1 1/2  year old boy/girl twins and 3 month old infant
Compensation: To $765 per week ($17 per hour), depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays, sick days, will consider a contribution to medical insurance, minivan provided for driving the children
Hours/Days:  Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Additional Qualifiers:  2+ years experience working with multiple infant and toddler age children, post secondary education preferred but not required.
Description:   The primary responsibility for the nanny is to provide safe, loving and quality childcare. The parents expect the nanny to engage the children in stimulating and age appropriate educational activities in the home. They are seeking a high energy nanny who will also involve the children in activities and playdates outside the home after the winter season. This active family enjoys outdoor time, going to parks and reading. 
Pets: Two Dachshunds

Type of Position: Full Time, Live Out, minimum of 6 months through February, possibly longer
Start Date: September 13
Location: Plymouth
Children: 1 and 5 year old boys
Compensation: To $16 per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays, will consider a contribution to medical insurance
Hours/Days:  Monday through Friday start at 8:30 AM, end time to be determined, 35+ hours per week
Additional Qualifiers:   Previous nanny experience working with older infant and preschool age children, post secondary education preferred but not required.
Description:   The primary responsibility for the nanny is to care for the one year old boy. The older boy will be in preschool every day until 2:45. The mother will drop him in the morning and nanny pick up in afternoon. They would like the nanny to be familiar with allergies and asthma. The nanny will take the younger boy to a weekly library story time and music class.
Pets: One older Golden Retriever

Type of Position: Part Time, two half days
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Victoria
Children:   One month old twin girls and 20 month old boy
Compensation: To $18 per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays
Hours/Days: Monday 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and Thursday 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for multiple young children, post secondary education is preferred but not required, physically fit and active
Description: The primary focus of this job is caring for the children. It is also expected that the nanny will help with laundry, dishes, cleaning up after the children and keeping their rooms organized. The mother will be in and out of the home so the nanny must be comfortable with this. The parents are seeking a nanny who is responsible, dependable, organized and has good communication skills. This would be a great job for a woman who has children in school.
