At Nannies from the Heartland, Inc., we're committed to helping nannies find positive opportunities, which match their skills with a family's needs.  Listed below are some of our current job openings.  This list may not reflect all of our job opportunities and can change daily.

Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on the requirements and needs of the client families.  Listed below are the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

  • Current or very recent child care employment; a minimum of one (1) year full time experience.  Candidates with less experience are considered if they possess a 2 year or 4 year college degree in a child related field.
  • At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or personal friends.
  • Own a safe, insured vehicle
  • Good driving record
  • Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a nanny job.
  • 21 or older
  • Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We do not do summer only placements.

Additional qualifiers that are helpful, but not required:

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification
  • Post secondary education specific to child care, education or related field

TEMPORARY NANNIES NEEDED  - MUST HAVE DAYTIME AVAILABILITY

We are seeking well qualified temporary nannies who have open hours during weekdays.  Temporary nannies provide as needed care for children in their home.  All candidates must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be considered and must be able to make a one year commitment to working as a temporary nanny.  When submitting your application and release forms please indicate you are interested in temporary work.

LIVE-IN POSITIONS

 Type of Position: Full Time Nanny/Household Manager
 Start Date: ASAP
 Location: Western Suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota
 Children:Pre-teen/Teenage boys
 Compensation: Will vary, depending on experience and education
 Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays, large furnished private bedroom and bathroom, meals, vehicle provided for driving the children and will consider a contribution to medical insurance
 Hours/Days: This position requires the nanny to be flexible. Typically she will work 5 days per week. The job is 8-10 hours per day, usually split shift before school and then late afternoon/early evening, 3 to 4 days per week. This could include some weekend hours every other weekend. There will be times that the nanny is responsible for the boys overnight if parent travels.
 Additional Qualifiers:  Five to ten years of previous child care/live-in nanny experience or equivalent training/education required. It is preferred that the nanny be very physically active and have experience working with boys between the ages of 11-18 years. The nanny must be flexible, take initiative, be able to follow through independently, have a firm fair demeanor with the children, have strong detail orientation and a high degree of confidentiality.
 Description:  The nanny is responsible for providing care for the children's physical, emotional, intellectual and social development. She plans and prepares healthy meals, provides transportation, assists with homework as needed, maintains the children's' clothing and rooms, schedules appointments and maintains electronic calendars of the children's' schedules. In addition, she coordinates duties/activities of other household staff and outside vendors, does the grocery shopping and errands and assists with light housekeeping

LIVE-OUT POSITIONS (full and part time)

Type of Position: Part Time, 20 hours per week guaranteed, flexible schedule
Start Date: Mid May
Location: Centerville
Children: 2 month old infant
Compensation: To $16 per hour, depending on experience and education
Benefits: Paid vacation
Hours/Days: The nanny must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes day and evening hours and probably 2 weekend days per month. Because of this need for flexibility, the family will guarantee to pay for 20 hours per week even on many weeks when the nanny does not work 20 hours. The parents know their schedule at least 6 weeks in advance, usually more than this.
Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for young infants
Description:  The primary focus of this job is to provide loving care to the infant. The parents are active, enjoy the outdoors and walking and biking in the regional park adjacent to their yard. Because of their professions, they need a nanny who can work a flexible schedule.
Pets: One very nice chocolate lab


Type of Position: Full Time, 4 or 5 days TBD
Start Date: Early to mid May
Location: Edina
Children:  3 month old boy
Compensation: To $17 per hour, depending on experience and education
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays, sick days    
Hours/Days: Most likely, the schedule will be Monday through Thursday or Friday 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, 40 to 50 hours, specific days and times to be determined within the next couple weeks
Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for an infant, post secondary education related to working with young children is preferred but they will consider candidates without this if very experienced. The nanny cannot live in a home with cats.
Description: These first time parents are seeking an experienced childcare provider to love, nurture and provide excellent and safe care for their son. They would like a long term relationship with the nanny and be able to work with her as a team in raising their family.
Pets: One 8 year old Beagle


Type of Position: Full Time
Start Date: Mid to late March
Location: Edina
Children:  4 and 1 year old girls
Compensation: To $800 per week, depending on experience and education
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays, sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance   
Hours/Days: Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM
Additional Qualifiers: Experience as a nanny and/or home daycare provider, must know how to swim, possess a knowledge of child development
Description: The parents of these two girls are seeking an experienced childcare provider who is energetic, active and reliable. The girls enjoy getting outdoors, reading, playdates and art projects. The oldest goes to preschool for 3 hours each day. This family would like to find a nanny who knows how to balance affection and firmness to be a partner in helping the girls build on their own strengths and empathize with others. They are seeking a nanny with whom they can develop a long term relationship.

Type of Position: Part Time
Start Date: Mid May to early June
Location: Golden Valley
Children:  7 year old twin girls and 1 year old boy
Compensation: To $17 per hour, depending on experience and education
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays  
Hours/Days: Summer hours: Tuesday and Thursday 7:45 AM to 6:15 PM  School year hours: Tuesday and Thursday 2:30 to 6:30 PM with extra hours on nights/weekends or intermittent times on M/W/F This would be an ideal job for a college student for the next couple years.             
Additional Qualifiers: Experience with toddler and school age children, own a car that can safely transport all 3 children
Description: This is an active family that enjoys a variety of outdoors activities  and reading, playing board games and just spending time together as a family. the older girls are involved in extracurricular activities. This family currently has a very experienced nanny referred through our service and she regrets that due to her school plans she needs to leave "the best family I have ever worked with".

Start Date: Mid to late March
Location: Minneapolis, near Lake of the Isles
Children: One boy who is almost 2 years old and a baby due in April
Compensation: To $800 per week depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays, sick days, will consider a contribution to medical insurance      
Hours/Days: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Additional Qualifiers:  Full time employment experience caring for infants and toddlers
Description:  This fun active family is seeking a nanny who will provide safe, loving care for their children and age appropriate educational activities and outings. A background in early childhood educational or a related field is preferred but not required. They have successfully employed a nanny through our service previously and are seeking a long term relationship with a nanny.

Type of Position: Full Time
Start Date: April/May
Location: Minneapolis, near Lake Calhoun
Children: 4 and 2 year old boys
Compensation: Competitive
Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays
Hours/Days: Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 5:30-6:00 PM typically, average 50 hours per week. The family does need some flexibility on start and end time and typically they  plan out the schedule a week in advance with the nanny
Additional Qualifiers: Childcare experience with toddler and preschool age children, previous nanny experience is a preferred but not required. It is also a preferred, but not required, that the nanny lives in a home with no cats.
Description: The parents of these two energetic fun loving boys are seeking a nanny who will actively engage them in play and provide a variety of age appropriate activities both in the home and out in the community. An energetic self starter who takes his/her career seriously, puts the safety and well being of the children first and desires to partner with the family is a great fit for this job. The family has successfully employed a nanny referred through our service for over 4 years and they are seeking another long term relationship.

Type of Position: Part Time, 30 hours per week guaranteed
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Orono
Children: 4 month old twin boys
Compensation: To $18 per hour, depending on experience and education
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays
Hours/Days: This job requires a nanny who can be flexible and work a combination of daytime and evening hours and be open to working one weekend night per week or every other week. A typical schedule would include 3 days and 2 evenings but this could vary. The family will know the schedule at least one week in advance. There may be weeks that they'd need the nanny more than 30 hours if she is available.
Additional Qualifiers: Previous experience as a nanny with multiples, lead teacher in an infant room in a daycare and/or experience as a home daycare provider with multiple young children. The nanny needs to be agile, in good health and able to be physically active with the boys. Bilingual and background in child development are plusses but not required.
Description:  The primary focus of this job is to provide  excellent care for 2 delightful little boys and perform duties around the home related to them. The parents will be in and out and have home offices so the nanny needs to comfortable with this.
Pets: 2 large dogs who will not be in the home when the nanny is working but she may need to feed them or let them out on occasion so should be comfortable with dogs


Type of Position: Part Time, 19 hours in 2 days
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Roseville
Children: 3 year old girl
Compensation: To $15 per hour
Benefits: Paid holidays  
Hours/Days: Tuesday and Wednesday 7:00AM to 4:30 PM The family does have some flexibility to consider different days but prefers Tuesday and Wednesday
Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for preschool age children
Description: This little girl needs a caring and attentive nanny who will enjoy playing "girly" things with her, singing, dancing, some preschool activities and getting outdoors. She is on a gluten free diet(the home is totally gluten free) and the nanny must be willing to learn about this if not familiar with it. The family would like to eventually have another child so they are seeking a long term nanny who would be willing to eventually also care for an infant.

Type of Position: Part Time, 20 to 25 hours per week
Start Date: March
Location: Roseville
Children: 3 year old boy
Compensation: To $17 per hour, depending on experience and education
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays  
Hours/Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday start between 9:00 -10:00 AM and end between 3:00-4:00 P. There could be some flexibility with the schedule including a 3 day work week alternating with a 4 day work week.
Additional Qualifiers: The nanny cannot live in a home with cats as the little boy is very allergic to them. Experience caring for toddler/preschool age children, college education preferred.
Description: The primary focus of this job is to provide excellent safe care for an energetic little boy. The parents would like the nanny to plan stimulating activities and a structured day that includes a variety of educational activities for him. This family has successfully employed nannies previously referred by our agency.

Type of Position: Full Time
Start Date: ASAP
Location: White Bear Lake
Children:  2 year old boy and baby due in June
Compensation: To $875 per week, depending on experience and education
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays, sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance   
Hours/Days: Monday through Friday generally 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, flexibility is required as both parents travel, sometimes shorter days but some longer days, generally Friday is a shorter day, home by 5:00
Additional Qualifiers: Experience with infant and toddler age children, minimum of 3 years previous nanny experience, energetic and active, swimmer, college degree in a childcare related field is preferred but not required
Description: The parents are seeking a career nanny who will become an extension of their family and shares their goals for their children. She must truly enjoy being with children all day and engage them in a variety of fun, active and age appropriate activities. This family has successfully employed nannies through our service previously and are only interested in considering candidates who are seeking a long term commitment
