Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on the requirements and needs of the client families.  Listed below are the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

  • Current or very recent child care employment; a minimum of one (1) year full time experience.  Candidates with less experience are considered if they possess a 2 year or 4 year college degree in a child related field.
  • At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or personal friends.
  • Own a safe, insured vehicle
  • Good driving record
  • Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a nanny job.
  • 21 or older
  • Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We do not do summer only placements.

Additional qualifiers that are helpful, but not required:

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification
  • Post secondary education specific to child care, education or related field

LIVE-OUT NANNY POSITIONS (full and part time)

Jobs are listed in alphabetical order based on location.

Type of Position: Part Time, 20 hours in two days
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Lake Elmo
Children: 3 year old boy/girl twins, 6 1/2 year old girl and 8 year old boy
Compensation: $16+ an hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation and  paid holidays and will consider a contribution to medical insurance
Hours/Days: Monday and Tuesday 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, they can be a little flexible on the start and end times and can lengthen the day to provide a few more hours if the nanny would like this. They cannot be flexible on the days.
Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for preschool and school age children
Description: The nanny's primary responsibility is to care for the preschool age twins. Both the older children are in school from 9:00 to 5:00 daily. So, the nanny just needs to get them breakfast and out to the school bus. The twins enjoy lots of outings and activities in the community.  This family successfully employs a nanny through our service who works three days per week.
Pets: None

Type of Position: Part Time, 25-30 hours
Start Date: Late October/early November
Location: Orono, near Highway 12 and Old Crystal Bay Road
Children: 3 month old boy/girl twins and 4 1/2 year old boy (in full time preschool)
Compensation: To $20 an hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation and paid holidays, the family provides a vehicle for any required child transportation
Hours/Days: Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM for a  total of 25 hours per week is the minimum number of hours, they can employ a nanny up to 30 hours per week so then the end time would be later in the afternoon
Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for infants, CPR and BLS certified or willing to obtain
Description: The nanny's primary responsibility is to care for the infant twins. It's important that she have a focus on early childhood education, interacting with the infants throughout the day. The older boy attends full time preschool and the nanny needs to help him get ready in the morning. Usually, the mother will drive him to preschool or she may stay home with the infants while nanny drives him. But, some days the nanny may need to take the babies with her while driving  him.  The family enjoys outdoor activities. They are seeking an enthusiastic, pleasant and motivated nanny. This family has employed a nanny previously through our service.
Pets: One 6 year old yellow Lab

Type of Position: Full Time
Start Date: ASAP
Location: St Louis Park
Children: 1 year old girl
Compensation: To $800 per week, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, paid holidays, paid sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance
Hours/Days: Monday through Friday, typically 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM but there may be occasional days that the nanny will need to work later until about 6:00 PM
Additional Qualifiers: Minimum one year experience working as a nanny, experience caring for infant/toddler age children, someone who is of Christian faith
Description: Caring for the child is the primary focus of this job. The parents want a nanny who will engage her, interact with her, read, sing and develop creative activities for her. Their Christian faith the most important aspect of their family life and it's important to them that the nanny shares these same values. Both parents work hard but when work is done, they love to spend time with their daughter.
