Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on the requirements and needs of the client families.  Listed below are the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

  • Current or very recent child care employment; a minimum of one (1) year full time experience.  Candidates with less experience are considered if they possess a 2 year or 4 year college degree in a child related field.
  • At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or personal friends.
  • Own a safe, insured vehicle
  • Good driving record
  • Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a nanny job.
  • 21 or older
  • Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We do not do summer only placements.

Additional qualifiers that are helpful, but not required:

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification
  • Post secondary education specific to child care, education or related field

 


LIVE-OUT NANNY POSITIONS (full and part time)

Type of Position: Full Time.
Start Date: End of May or early June
Location: Edina, near Highway 100 and Vernon Avenue exit
Children: 3 month old twin girls
Compensation: To $20 per hour, depending on qualifications.
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance
Hours/Days: Monday through Friday, start at 7:30 AM and the day ends 4:00-4:30 PM, possibly earlier on Fridays. The family can be a bit flexible on the end time to accommodate a nanny's schedule.
Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for infants and more than one infant at a time, a background in early childhood education is preferred, CPR and First Aid certified or willing to obtain
Description: It's important that applicants for this job have several years experience caring for infants. The parents are seeking a warm, caring  and mature nanny who will focus on providing a nurturing environment for the girls. It's important that the nanny engages the girls in educational play and offers an interactive environment appropriate for their growth and development. This position will be home based for now with stroller rides around the neighborhood and to the near by park encouraged. As the girls grow older, there may be opportunities for a music class, library story time and/or playdates.

Type of Position: Part Time, 20 hours per week in two days
Start Date: May 27
Location: Minnetonka
Children: 3 month old girl
Compensation: To $18 per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation and paid holidays
Hours/Days:  Thursday and Friday 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for infants and ideally early childhood education or training
Description: These first time parents are seeking an experienced, loving and nurturing nanny for their infant daughter.  It's important that she engage the child in age appropriate developmental play and activities and read to her. Their house is on a quiet cul-de-sac and the large fenced back yard backs up to a large nature park with many trails for taking the baby for a walk. 
Pets: One furry and well behaved 10 year old dog, the grandfather lives near by and walks the dog daily


Type of Position: Full Time.
Start Date: Early May
Location: Orono, near Highway 12 and Old Crystal Bay Road.
Children: 9-month-old boy/girl twins and 5-year-old boy (in full-time preschool).
Compensation: To $20 per hour, depending on qualifications.
Benefits: Paid vacation and paid holidays, the family provides a vehicle for any required child transportation.
Hours/Days: Tuesday and Thursday 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:00-3:00 PM
Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for infants, CPR and BLS certified or willing to obtain.
Description: The nanny's primary responsibility is to care for the infant twins. It's important that she have a focus on early childhood education, interacting with the infants throughout the day. The older boy attends full time preschool and the nanny needs to help him get ready in the morning. Usually, the mother will drive him to preschool. The family enjoys outdoor activities. They are seeking a very reliable, enthusiastic, pleasant and motivated nanny. This family has employed a nanny previously through our service.
Pets: One 6-year-old Yellow Lab.


Type of Position: Full Time 
Start Date:  ASAP
Location: Medina, border of Plymouth
Children:  1 year old and almost 4 year old boys
Compensation:  $675 per week
Benefits: Paid vacation, paid holidays and sick days
Hours/Days: Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for toddler and preschool age children, CPR or willing to obtain, ideal but not required is college education related to working with young children
Description: The primary focus of this job is provide great care for the boys and engage them in age appropriate play and educational activities. The older boy attends preschool part day twice a week. The boys love to go to the neighborhood playground and spend time outside. The parents would like a nanny who will plan trips to the museum, theater, parks etc. The mother works from a home office so the nanny must be comfortable with this. They have successfully employed nannies in the past and would consider hiring a nanny who wants to bring her own child to the job.

Type of Position: Full Time, 39 hours per week
Start Date: August 24 or 31
Location: Roseville
Children: 8 and 4 year old boys
Compensation: To $19 per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, paid holidays, paid sick days and a contribution to medical insurance
Hours/Days: Monday through Friday, the start time is 7:50 AM. The end time varies; 4:30 PM on Monday and Tuesday, 3:50 PM on Wednesday, 4:50 PM on Thursday and 12:30 PM on Friday. The family can be a bit flexible on adjusting the start and/or end times.
Additional Qualifiers: Multiple years experience caring for young school age children, loving to the boys, patient and a good role model, experienced working with other professionals in a team environment
Description: The parents are seeking a nanny who will plan and execute creative activities that promote the physical, emotional, intellectual and social development of the children. She will also be transporting the boys to activities, school and appointments and communicating with teachers, therapist and other professionals. The older boy has high functioning autism and is very creative, loving and fun to be around. Most days he is in school or at activities. This family is very active and enjoys being outside at parks, museums, zoos etc. Outings typically involve at least two adults. This job also includes some household management duties, routine errands and light cooking. The mother does not work outside the home but is busy with many commitments and appointments during the week. This family has developed a great team of caregivers and other professionals who work well together. Their current nanny has been with them for 3 1/2 years and is leaving to pursue another career. So, the family is seeking another  mature experienced child care provider to partner with them and their family. They have successfully employed two nannies through our service over the years.
