Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on the requirements and needs of the client families.  Listed below are the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

  • Current or very recent child care employment; a minimum of one (1) year full time experience.  Candidates with less experience are considered if they possess a 2 year or 4 year college degree in a child related field.
  • At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or personal friends.
  • Own a safe, insured vehicle
  • Good driving record
  • Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a nanny job.
  • 21 or older
  • Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We do not do summer only placements.

Additional qualifiers that are helpful, but not required:

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification
  • Post secondary education specific to child care, education or related field

 


NANNY POSITIONS (full and part time, all are live out unless noted)

Type of Position:  Full time, 34-35 hours per week average, see details below
Start Date:  October 10
Location: Edina
Children:  1 1/2 year old girl and 3 1/2 and 5 year old boys
Compensation:  Up to $20 per hour, $700 per week, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation and paid holidays if the holiday is on a scheduled work day
Schedule:  The schedule rotates every three weeks; week one is Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM, week two is Monday through Thursday 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM and week three is Wednesday 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Thursday and Friday 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Two out of three weeks, nanny will have a 4 or 5 day weekend. There may be 4-5 Saturdays per year that the family will need the nanny to work.
Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience working with toddlers and preschoolers, 5+ years experience in the child care field, current CPR or willing to obtain, comfortable with animals in the home
Description:  The nanny will be expected to provide all day caring and loving care for the toddler girl and the two older boys who will be home about 60% of the time. They will be attending 1/2 day preschool form 9-1:00 daily. The preschool is close to their home and nanny will need to drive the boys. It is preferred that the nanny use her own car, however, the family could also consider providing a car for this purpose. This family enjoys outdoor active play. The kids love reading, puzzles and building.  Their home has a fenced yard and is in a quiet family friendly neighborhood close to a park with soccer fields, playground and ice rink.

Type of Position:  Full time, four days, Monday through Thursday
Start Date:  October
Location: Edina
Children:  1 year old boy  and 3 year old girl
Compensation:  Up to $865 per week, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, paid holidays and will consider a contribution to medical insurance
Schedule:  Monday through Thursday 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM is the ideal schedule for the family. They could consider ending the day earlier on one day per week and possibly can consider starting 1/2 hour later in the morning.  
Additional Qualifiers: Mature person and extensive previous child care experience working with young children, interested in long term employment.
Description:  The parents are seeking a nanny who can support the family in not only the daily care of the children but also their emotional and physical growth. A nanny should provide loving care in the home, help the children get out and explore the world and develop as people.  The older girl attends preschool Monday and Wednesday mornings. The parents value experience and are looking for support in raising their children.  They are a health conscious family and would like the nanny to prepare a simple healthy dinner for the family and feed the children before the parents arrive home from work.   The family is open to hiring a live in nanny who would like to stay in their home during the four work days. They have a large bedroom on the lower with en suite bathroom.

Location: Minneapolis,  Cedar Lake
Children:   8 year old boy
Compensation:  Up to $20 per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays, sick days and will consider a contribution to medical insurance.
Schedule: This job averages 30 hours per week. Required is four to five afternoons per week, the start time is flexible and end at 6:00 PM with possibly one evening until 8:00 PM. There could also be one to two mornings per week but the nanny could then work the entire day, a split shift would not be expected on these days. There could also be one to two overnights per month. Some flexibility is required and the mother and the nanny can plan the schedule in advance. It he hours exceed 30 per week average, nanny will be compensated for this
Additional Qualifiers: Experience working with school age children and household management and cooking
Description: The mother is seeking a fun, energetic and physically active caregiver for her son  and someone who can manage household tasks and prepare a healthy dinner three to four days per week.  The 8 year old attends Montessori school in South Minneapolis and needs to be picked up in the afternoon and cared for until mother comes home. There will also be some morning drop offs.  The nanny can start her day with working in the home and then pick him up at school. He enjoys sports and music. Household management duties can be performed during the day as convenient and include light housework, laundry, meal planning, grocery shopping, errands and cooking dinner three to four days per week. The mother does have a weekly cleaner for the more in depth cleaning. If you enjoy an active job with variety and flexibility, this is a great opportunity for you!

Type of Position: Part time, 32 hours per week in three days, Nanny/Household manager, see details below

Location: Minneapolis,  Lake Harriett
Children:  5,  8 1/2 and 10 year old boys
Compensation:  Up to $35,000 annually ($21 per hour), depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays, will consider a contribution to medical insurance and the family provides a vehicle for transporting the children.
Schedule: Monday and Thursday 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM and on Wednesday 7:30 am TO 6:30 PM. It would be appreciated, but not required, if the nanny could occasionally work later into the evening or on a weekend.
Additional Qualifiers: Experience working with school age children and household management
Description: This is a fun and loving family that enjoys spending time together. They are seeking a nanny to  provide before and after school care, homework assistance and transportation as needed for school and activities. The youngest is in full day preschool. While the children are in school, the nanny is expected to do family laundry, light house cleaning, errands and simple dinner prep. They have a weekly cleaner for the more in depth cleaning.  There is opportunity for travel with the family but this is not a requirement.
Pets: None at this time but they anticipate they will be getting a medium size dog in the future

Location: Minneapolis, Linden Hills
Children:  4 year old boy and 1 year old girl
Compensation:  Up to $20 per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid holidays and paid sick days
Schedule:  Most weekday mornings 7-11:00 AM. If the nanny could help some afternoons from 4-8:00PM and on weekends, this would be a plus but is not required. The family can flex the schedule for the right person.
Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with infants to preschool age children, experience working with children with special needs, current CPR and First Aid or willing to obtain.
Description: This family is hoping to find a nanny who will tag team with the parents in providing care for an engaging 14 month old girl with fragile medical status and a bright joyful 4 year old boy as well as help with household tasks. The older boy is in preschool and summer camps much of the day. The nanny must have experience or strong interest in working with children with special needs, including a feeding tube. The is a great position for a student or someone who lives near the family in southwest Minneapolis, Linden Hills.

Compensation:  Up to $770 per week, depending on qualifications

Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with infants, current CPR and vaccinations or willing to obtain, college education related to early childhood education is preferred but not required
Description:  Caring for the infant is the nanny's primary responsibility. During her awake periods, the parents want the nanny to stimulate and engage her through conversation, books, music and play with toys. They do not want any screen time. The mother works from a home office three days per week so the nanny must be comfortable with this. The nanny and child would primarily spend time on the upper nursery level and playroom level. The nanny would not be responsible for new born care until July 2017.

Location: Plymouth
Children:  10 months, 2 1/2 and 5 1/2 year old boys
Compensation:  Up to $900 per week, depending on qualifications

Schedule:  Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:45 PM
Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with infant to young school age children, strong history of long relationships with other families, education or strong experience related to childcare/education.
Description:  This is a faith based family is seeking a nanny who will support and encourage the morals and values that they are working to instill in their children. They are an active family, they enjoy spending time outside and would like to have a nanny who encourages and motivates that in the boys. They are strong believers in learning through play and the three busy boys love to play. Clean living and healthy eating is important to them. As a family, they have four "family rules"; be kind, use manners, always listen and love big.
Pets: Cockapoo, (non-shedding, hypoallergenic)

Type of Position:  Part time, 27 hours per week in 4 days, see below
Start Date:  ASAP
Location: St Louis Park, near Highways 7 and 100
Children:  3 month old boy
Compensation:  Up to $17 per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, paid  holidays and sick days
Schedule:  Monday and Tuesday 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Wednesday and Thursday 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM, ability to work as late as 8:30 PM or start as early as 6:00 AM about once per month if one parent is traveling. This can be discussed and planned in advance with the nanny.
Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience and experience with infant age children, current CPR/First Aid or willing to obtain, some college education is preferred but not required
Description:  The nanny's primary responsibility is to provide quality loving care for the child. It's important to the parents that the nanny be in alignment with their parenting philosophies or willing to learn/adopt. They are also looking for someone who is a strong communicator and willing to fall in line with their tendency for being scheduled and active. As a family, they enjoy fitness, music and reading and try to live a healthy lifestyle.
