Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on
the requirements and needs of the client families. Listed below are
the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be
considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

Current or very recent child care employment; a minimum of one (1) year full
time experience. Candidates with less experience are considered if they possess
a 2 year or 4 year college degree in a child related field.
- At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or
personal friends.
- Own a safe, insured vehicle
- Good driving record
- Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good
health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a
nanny job.
- 21 or older
- Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We
do not do summer only
placements.

TEMPORARY NANNIES NEEDED - MUST HAVE
DAYTIME AVAILABILITY
We are seeking well qualified temporary nannies
who have open hours during weekdays. Temporary nannies
provide as needed care for children in their home. All
candidates must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be
considered and must be able to make a one year commitment to working
as a temporary nanny. When submitting your application and
release forms please indicate you are interested in temporary work.
LIVE-IN POSITIONS

Hours/Days: This
position requires the nanny to be flexible. Typically she will work
5 days per week. The job is 8-10 hours per day, usually split shift
before school and then late afternoon/early evening, 3 to 4 days per
week. This could include some weekend hours every other weekend.
There will be times that the nanny is responsible for the boys
overnight if parent travels.
Additional Qualifiers:
Five to ten years of previous child care/live-in nanny experience or
equivalent training/education required. It is preferred that the
nanny be very physically active and have experience working with
boys between the ages of 11-18 years. The nanny must be flexible,
take initiative, be able to follow through independently, have a
firm fair demeanor with the children, have strong detail orientation
and a high degree of confidentiality.
Description: The
nanny is responsible for providing care for the children's physical,
emotional, intellectual and social development. She plans and
prepares healthy meals, provides transportation, assists with
homework as needed, maintains the children's' clothing and rooms,
schedules appointments and maintains electronic calendars of the
children's' schedules. In addition, she coordinates
duties/activities of other household staff and outside vendors, does
the grocery shopping and errands and assists with light housekeeping

LIVE-OUT POSITIONS (full and part time)

Hours/Days: The
nanny must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes day and
evening hours and probably 2 weekend days per month. Because of this
need for flexibility, the family will guarantee to pay for 20 hours
per week even on many weeks when the nanny does not work 20 hours.
The parents know their schedule at least 6 weeks in advance, usually
more than this.

Experience caring for young infants
Description: The
primary focus of this job is to provide loving care to the infant.
The parents are active, enjoy the outdoors and walking and biking in
the regional park adjacent to their yard. Because of their
professions, they need a nanny who can work a flexible schedule.

first time parents are seeking an experienced childcare provider to
love, nurture and provide excellent and safe care for their son.
They would like a long term relationship with the nanny and be able
to work with her as a team in raising their family.

outdoors, reading, playdates and art projects. The oldest goes to
preschool for 3 hours each day. This family would like to find a
nanny who knows how to balance affection and firmness to be a
partner in helping the girls build on their own strengths and
empathize with others. They are seeking a nanny
with whom they can develop a long term relationship.

and reading, playing board games and just spending time together as a
family. the older girls are involved in extracurricular activities.
This family currently has a very experienced nanny referred through
our service and she regrets that due to her school plans she needs
to leave "the best family I have ever worked with".

requires a nanny who can be flexible and work a combination of
daytime and evening hours and be open to working one weekend night
per week or every other week. A typical schedule would include 3
days and 2 evenings but this could vary. The family will know the
schedule at least one week in advance. There may be weeks that
they'd need the nanny more than 30 hours if she is available.
Additional Qualifiers:
Previous experience as a nanny with multiples, lead teacher in an
infant room in a daycare and/or experience as a home daycare
provider with multiple young children. The nanny needs to be agile,
in good health and able to be physically active with the boys.
Bilingual and background in child development are plusses but not
required.
Description: The
primary focus of this job is to provide excellent care for 2
delightful little boys and perform duties around the home related to
them. The parents will be in and out and have home offices so the
nanny needs to comfortable with this.

dogs who will not be in the home when the nanny is working but she

home is totally gluten free) and the nanny must be willing to learn
about this if not familiar with it. The family would like to
eventually have another child so they are seeking a long term nanny
who would be willing to eventually also care for an infant.

energetic little boy. The parents would like the nanny to plan
stimulating activities and a structured day that includes a variety
of educational activities for him. This family has successfully employed
nannies previously referred by our agency.

their family and shares their goals for their children. She must
truly enjoy being with children all day and engage them in a variety
of fun, active and age appropriate activities. This family has
successfully employed nannies through our service previously and are
only interested in considering candidates who are seeking a long
term commitment
