Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on the requirements and needs of the client families.  Listed below are the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

  • Current or very recent child care employment; a minimum of one (1) year full time experience.  Candidates with less experience are considered if they possess a 2 year or 4 year college degree in a child related field.
  • At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or personal friends.
  • Own a safe, insured vehicle
  • Good driving record
  • Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a nanny job.
  • 21 or older
  • Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We do not do summer only placements.

Additional qualifiers that are helpful, but not required:

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification
  • Post secondary education specific to child care, education or related field

 


LIVE-OUT NANNY POSITIONS (full and part time)

Type of Position: Full Time 
Start Date:  March 16
Location: Dayton
Children:  2 year old boy/girl twins
Compensation: To $900 per week, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, paid holidays and sick days
Hours/Days: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for multiple toddlers, either twins or in a child care setting, college degree is preferred but not required, current CPR and First Aid or willing to obtain, comfortable around water
Description: This active family is seeking a nanny who will provide quality care for the children and a stimulating environment that promotes learning.  The nanny should enjoy researching and planning activities that have substantial child development, social relationship skills and educational value.  It's important that she enjoy games, walks, playground outings and daily reading with the children. Field trips to the library, museums etc are allowed. They live on the river so experience with water safety is important.

Type of Position: Part Time, 18 hours in two days
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Edina
Children: 1 1/2 year old twin boys
Compensation: To $18 per hour, depending on qualifications

Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for toddler age children, college education preferred, current CPR/First Aid or willing to obtain
Description: The nanny's primary responsibility is to care for the boys and provide for their safety. The parents would like the nanny to actively assist in their development through reading, music, language and engaging in age appropriate activities. There is no driving involved with this job.

Compensation: To $1000 per week, depending on qualifications

Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for multiple infants, either twins or in a child care setting
Description: If you love working with infants, have experience with multiples and are seeking long term employment, then this is a great job for you. It's important to the parents that the nanny provides not only quality care for the children but also engages them in play and age appropriate activities.  They live in newer development with lots of young children and four parks within walking distance. The babies are on a good routine and it's important to the parents that the nanny follow this. They live an active lifestyle and enjoy spending time with family.

Location: Minneapolis, near Cedar Lake
Children:  5 year old girl, 3 year old boy and 8 month old boy
Compensation: To $850 per week, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, paid holidays and sick days and a contribution to medical insurance
Hours/Days: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, occasional additional hours are available and the nanny would be paid at a higher rate for these if she would like to work more
Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for infant to young school age children, active person who is looking for a several year relationship with a family
Description: This family is looking for a nanny who likes to be in motion, busy and active with children. They live near the lake, parks, a bike trail and have passes to museums. The children love reading, active outdoor play, field trip and play dates.  The older girl currently attends part time preschool. In the fall, she will be in day kindergarten and the three year old boy will attend part time preschool. This family has employed two nannies over the years who have enjoyed their family. They would love a long term relationship with a new nanny who becomes a part of the family, extension of the parents and cares for the children like they are her own.

Type of Position: Full/Part Time,  average of 30 hours per week, 1560 hours annually
Start Date: February 4 or as soon as possible after this
Location: Minneapolis, near Highway 394 and Penn Ave
Children:  2 month old boy
Compensation: To $19 per hour, $30,000 annually, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation and paid holidays, will consider a contribution to medical insurance
Hours/Days: May through October the job is full time, Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. November  through April the hours are part time, about 20 hours per week, and the family knows the schedule 2 to3 weeks in advance. This is an average of 30 hours per week and the family will pay a set weekly salary.
Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for infants, some college preferred but not required, CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain, ability to work a flexible schedule
Description: These parents are looking for an active loving nanny who will be a great caregiver for their son.  A mature dependable nanny who enjoys being active outdoors, getting out in the community with children and likes dogs is a great fit for them.  Both of the mothers are professionals who work outside the home; one of them has a job that requires seasonal flexibility and variations in the nanny's schedule. It is very important to them that the nanny is an enlightened individual who will reinforce their views of loving and respecting everyone

Type of Position: Part Time
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Plymouth
Children:  4 year old girl, 7 year old boy, 10 year old girl
Compensation: $20+ per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation and paid holidays
Hours/Days: Tuesday 3:30 to 8:00 pm and Wednesday 7:30 am to 8:00 pm, additional hours are available but optional on Thursday morning before school and every other Friday and Saturday
Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for preschool and school age children
Description: This part time job involves before and after school care on Wednesday and afterschool care on Tuesday. After school care involves dinner, homework help and transportation to activities. On Wednesday when the children are in school, the nanny would do errands, laundry etc with a paid break midday.

Type of Position: Full Time, 39 hours per week
Start Date: June
Location: Roseville
Children: 8 and 4 year old boys
Compensation: To $19 per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, paid holidays, paid sick days and a contribution to medical insurance
Hours/Days: Monday through Friday, the start time is 7:50 AM. The end time varies; 4:30 PM on Monday and Tuesday, 3:50 PM on Wednesday, 4:50 PM on Thursday and 12:30 PM on Friday. The family can be a bit flexible on adjusting the start and/or end times.
Additional Qualifiers: Multiple years experience caring for young school age children, loving to the boys, patient and a good role model, experienced working with other professionals in a team environment
Description: The parents are seeking a nanny who will plan and execute creative activities that promote the physical, emotional, intellectual and social development of the children. She will also be transporting the boys to activities, school and appointments and communicating with teachers, therapist and other professionals. The older boy has high functioning autism and is very creative, loving and fun to be around. Most days he is in school or at activities. This family is very active and enjoys being outside at parks, museums, zoos etc. Outings typically involve at least two adults. This job also includes some household management duties, routine errands and light cooking. The mother does not work outside the home but is busy with many commitments and appointments during the week. This family has developed a great team of caregivers and other professionals who work well together. Their current nanny has been with them for 3 1/2 years and is leaving to pursue another career. So, the family is seeking another  mature experienced child care provider to partner with them and their family. They have successfully employed two nannies through our service over the years.
