Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on the requirements and needs of the client families.  Listed below are the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

  • Current or very recent child care employment; a minimum of one (1) year full time experience.  Candidates with less experience are considered if they possess a 2 year or 4 year college degree in a child related field.
  • At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or personal friends.
  • Own a safe, insured vehicle
  • Good driving record
  • Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a nanny job.
  • 21 or older
  • Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We do not do summer only placements.

Additional qualifiers that are helpful, but not required:

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification
  • Post secondary education specific to child care, education or related field

 


NANNY POSITIONS (full and part time, all are live out unless noted)

Type of Position: Part time, three days per week, up to 30 hours

Start Date: ASAP
Location: Eagan, near 35 E and Yankee Doodle Rd
Children:  6 month old girl and 1 1/2 year old boy
Compensation:  Up to $18 per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid time off
Schedule:  The family can employ a nanny for three 8 hour days, Tuesday and Wednesday, and can be flexible on the third day, for a total of 24 hours. The three scheduled days are 8 hours per day starting between 7-8:00 AM and ending between 3-4:00 PM. Additional hours available evening or weekend.
Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with infants and toddlers, multiple young children, post high school education, comfortable with large dogs, current CPR or willing to obtain
Description: The  parents are seeking an energetic enthusiastic nanny who has experience caring for multiple young children. They would like the nanny to engage the children in age appropriate creative and educational activities. They have a fenced backyard and would like the nanny to let the dogs out for a bathroom break. Both children have a history of reflux. The older boy's is mostly resolved and the younger girl's is still ongoing.
Pets: Two senior female Rhodesian Ridgebacks who will typically be in their back room during the day

Type of Position:  Full time, 4.5 days, 47 hours per week, see schedule below
Start Date:  No later than mid August and they could start a new nanny in July
Location: Edina
Children:   1 1/2,  3 and 6 1/2 year old boys
Compensation:  Up to $940 per week, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, paid  holidays and will consider a contribution to medical insurance 
Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 7:15 AM to 5:30 PM and 7:15 AM to 12:15 PM on Fridays. There may be rare occasions that the nanny would need to work on a Friday afternoon.   
Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with toddler to school age children, previous nanny experience, ideally some education in child development, current CPR or willing to obtain
Description:  This is an active family with three energetic boys. They are seeking an energetic fun nanny who is a self starter and strong communicator. The boys are in school, preschool and some classes so the nanny must have a reliable car to transport three children and enjoy outings and various activities in the community with them. During the school year, the older boy is in school all day and the 3 year old in morning preschool. This family employed the same nanny through our service for the past six years. They are looking for another long term relationship with a nanny who wants to do this as a career and is looking for a family to grow with. 
Pets: None currently but they do plan to get a Beagle. The nanny will not be responsible for the dog.
Type of Position:  Full or part time, 30-40 hours in 3-5 days per week,  the family can be flexible to consider what works best for the nanny
Start Date:  August
Location: Edina, near 50th and France
Children:  4 year old girl, almost 2 year old boy and baby due in October
Compensation:  Up to $20 per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, paid  holidays and sick days, and will consider a contribution to medical insurance, quarterly bonus and birthday day off 
Schedule:  The ideal schedule for the family is 10 hours on Tuesday and Thursday and shorter days starting later morning on Monday Wednesday and Friday. However they can be flexible on the schedule, total number of hours and start/end times. Most important is finding a great nanny for their family!
Additional Qualifiers: Experience working with infant, toddler and preschool age children and household management, college education preferred, lives near Edina/Western suburbs so does not have long commute 
Description:  This family is seeking an experienced career nanny who is patient, nurturing, safety oriented and creative. The parents want to reward and work with a nanny and treat her as part of the family. They want her to be happy and thrive in this job as happy nanny means happy kids! The children are sweet, energetic and thrive on routine. The nanny must be comfortable with a mother who will be at home about 50% of the time. Both older children are in preschool part time. Mom is very involved with the two older children and needs someone that she can trust to stay home with the infant. She would also like to have one-on-one time with each child so the nanny would at times care for two children, seldom all three. They are an active family and enjoy weekends as a family at a pool, park or engaged in creative play inside. Nutrition and minimal screen time is important. The mother also needs help with laundry, dishes, small household tasks, putting away toys, organizing and errands.

Description: The primary focus of this job is child care. These parents are seeking a nanny who is loving and nurturing. They want their son to have one-one attention, care and love while they are work.  It's important that the nanny actively play with him, read to him, take walks outdoors and provide a safe and caring environment.

Location: Minneapolis, near Lake Harriet
Children:  3 year old boy and baby girl due in August
Compensation:  Up to $20 per hour, depending on qualifications

Description: The parents are seeking a nanny who will challenge their son's curiosity and approach their day and his activities with enthusiasm. He is a bright creative child who will be attending part time morning preschool in the fall. They also need a caregiver with experience with newborn/young infants to provide quality care for their daughter who is due in August. A nanny who incorporates educational opportunities for the children throughout the day is important to the parents. Both parents work from home offices, the father spends more time away from home during the week. This family lives in great neighborhood with many young children and close to the lake. Their home has a large lower level play space and backyard accessible off the kitchen/family room area.

Type of Position:  Full time (Monday -Thursday). Nanny+Household Duties
Start Date:  August 15 or earlier
Location: Minneapolis, near Lake of the Isles
Children:   4 1/2 year old girl and 8 1/2 year old boy
Compensation:  Up to $850 per week, depending on qualifications
Benefits: 15 PTO (paid time off ) days, paid  holidays and will consider a contribution to healthcare
Schedule:  Monday though Thursday 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM plus one week night evening. The nanny may have several hours during the day when her household tasks are completed and it is fine if she engages in personal business during that time as long as she is available to pick up the children. When the children do not have school or summer camp, they would like the nanny to also work on Friday with additional compensation for this. They will know these required Fridays in advance.
Additional Qualifiers: Experience working with preschool/school age children and household management. Ability and willingness to swim. CPR or willingness to obtain.
Description:  Both children are in school all day and they are the nanny's first responsibility. This includes transportation to and from school and arranging appropriate play, play dates, activities and outings. It's important that the nanny reads with the children and supervises homework when necessary. They enjoy physical activity and the nanny must be  energetic, active and able to ride a bike and swim. Being familiar with technology is also important in order to participate in managing family calendar, grocery and tasks list. While the children are in school, the nanny is expected to perform household tasks that include laundry, grocery shopping, errands and other tasks as needed. The family has employed the same  nanny for almost 8 years and as she moves from the area, this will be an adjustment for all. They are looking forward to developing a relationship with another great nanny for a long term situation.

Start Date:  July is the ideal but they can be somewhat flexible on the start date, what is most important to the family is finding the right person
Location: Minneapolis, Linden Hills
Children:  1 year old girl and 4 year old boy
Compensation: Up to $20 per hour, depending on qualifications

Schedule:  This family is seeking a nanny to work three days per week at a minimum. One of those days needs to be Wednesday 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM. It would be most ideal if the nanny can also work on Monday and Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM but they can consider different days. There is the opportunity for additional hours on weekends and/or evenings.
Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with infants to preschool age children, experience working with children with special needs, ideally experience with feeding tubes, current CPR and First Aid or willing to obtain
Description:  The parents are seeking a nanny who has an understanding of child development and will enjoy her time with their children. The old boy is in school most days and there is occasional driving involved. Most of the care required is for the happy, smiley one year old girl who has some special needs and a feeding tube. This family enjoys music, art, reading and getting outdoors. They live in a great neighborhood with lots of children near Linden Hills and Minnehaha Creek.

Children:  2 month old and 3 year old girls
Compensation:  Up to $800 per week, depending on qualifications

Schedule: Monday through Thursday 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM
Additional Qualifiers:  Experience with infant to preschool age children, current CPR/First Aid and vaccinations or willing to obtain, background in child development or education is a plus
Description: The nanny's primary responsibility is to provide quality loving care for the children.  It is important to the parents that she engage them in age appropriate activities, spend time in the fenced backyard, go to parks and library and get together for play dates with cousins who live nearby. They also have a great basement play area for active gross motor play. The older girl will be in preschool two mornings per week and bussed from the home. She has been wearing hearing aids since infancy so the nanny will need to learn how to put them in.  This family values healthy eating, activity, getting outdoors, spending time with family and time at home together on the weekends.
Pets: One friendly mix breed dog who can be in the back hall or outside during the day
Type of Position:  Part or Full time, 30+ hours per week average
Start Date:  Early to Mid August
Location: Newport
Children:    3 month old girl and 2 year old boy
Compensation:  Up to $20 per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid time off (PTO, vacation and holidays) 
Schedule:  The family is seeking a nanny to work 3-4 days per week starting between 9-10:00 AM and ending between 3-4:00 PM. The family can be flexible which days the nanny works and the start and end times. The days can be the same or variable weekly depending on the mother's work schedule. They also would like the nanny to work two weekend days per month when the mother works weekends. She knows her schedule three months in advance and the nanny can choose which two days she would like to work.
Additional Qualifiers: Experience working with infant and toddler age and multiple young children
Description: This family is seeking a nanny who is nurturing, creative and playful  with previous experience caring for multiple young children. It's also important that she is dependable, responsible trustworthy and flexible.  The older boy is a lively toddler who is sensitive and needs patience and understanding. A nanny who wants to be a part of their lives now and into the future will enjoy this family.

Type of Position: Part time, family is open to different arrangements:                                                       

Monday-Thursday 7:00-9:30 AM, resulting in 10 hours

Monday-Thursday 7:00 AM-12:00 PM, resulting in 20 hours

Monday-Thursday, 7:00-10:00 AM and 2/2:30-5/5:30 PM, resulting in 24 hours

Three days per week, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday or Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 7:00 AM-5/5:30 PM resulting in 30-31.5 hours

 

Start Date: Week of August 15 to shadow previous nanny for one week or week of August 29th when school starts. The family is interested in offering more hours during summer 2017, scheduled Monday through Thursday, when the children are out of school 
Location: St Louis Park, located 6 blocks from Lake Calhoun.
Children:  10 year old girl and 7 year old boy
Compensation:  Up to $18-$20 per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick/personal days, contribution to medical insurance, mileage reimbursement. It is expected that the nanny will receive a minimum of 20 days of paid time off annually, due to mother's large vacation allotment at work.
Schedule: See options listed above; and if possible, one weekend date night per month.
Additional Qualifiers: Prior nanny/preschool/school and household management experience
Description: During the school year, both children are in school 9:20 am to 3:50 pm. In the morning, the nanny will prepare breakfast, help prepare them for school, and walk them to the school bus/drive them to school. For the split shift after school or for full day schedule, the nanny will provide after school care for the children, including helping with homework and driving them to afterschool activities. For the split shift after school or full day schedule, the nanny will perform various household management duties such as grocery shopping, family laundry, errands, keeping the house neat and light meal prep.  During the summer months, the job is more child care focused, and nanny will plan outings in the community such as visiting museums and libraries, and plan outdoor activities such as bike rides and swimming at pools. This family has successfully employed nannies through our service for 10+ years, has an excellent and consistent track record as an employer and wonderful relationships with all past nannies.

Children:  2 month old boy
Compensation:  Up to $800 per week, depending on qualifications

Schedule:  Typically the nanny will work Monday through Friday weekdays but there is some flexibility required depending on the parents' work schedules. Some weeks, the nanny may not work all five days and there may be very occasional weekend hours. You need to be able to start as early as  7:15 AM and work as late as 6:00 PM. Some weeks will be more hours than others. The nanny will know her schedule at least 4-5 weeks  advance.
Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with infants and previous nanny experience required, current CPR, First Aid and SIDS or willing to obtain, willing to travel on vacation with the family a couple times per year (all expenses paid), must be comfortable with very large dogs
Description: First and foremost for the parents is that the nanny provides warm loving quality care for their son.  Due to their unusual schedules, there will be times that a parent is at home and wants to spend time with the child. In this situation, they would like the nanny to be proactive and help them with errands, cooking and laundry. The parents are both high energy, hard working, easy going and people who are quite optimistic. They are seeking a nanny who is calm, level headed, will help them transition to parenthood and would like to become part of their open loving family.
Pets: Two very large dogs, Bulldog and Akbash. The bulldog is docile and quiet. Once the Akbash gets to know the nanny, then will be ok with her. They will need to be let them out in the yard during the day.

Description: Caring for the youngest child is the nanny's primary responsibility during the school year with after school care for the two oldest. The nanny is responsible for school drop off and pick up and the school is near the family's home. The two older children are multi-lingual and enrolled in a German Immersion School. Healthy living and eating are important to the family. The parents are looking for a nanny who will keep their children safe and healthy, help them grow and learn and have fun in the process! As a family, they enjoy being outdoors and do board games, puzzles and movies when the weather keeps them inside. It's important that the nanny is open-minded and flexible and respects their family values and multicultural traditions.

They also would appreciate any support that the nanny can provide in terms of light housekeeping, laundry and meal prep so they can maximize their time with the son.  This family values healthy eating, getting outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
