Qualifications for all positions through Nannies from the Heartland, Inc. are based on the requirements and needs of the client families.  Listed below are the minimal requirements in order for a nanny application to be considered. Please see our Nanny Qualifications page for more detailed information.

  • Current or very recent child care employment; a minimum of one (1) year full time experience.  Candidates with less experience are considered if they possess a 2 year or 4 year college degree in a child related field.
  • At least three employment related child care references that are not family members or personal friends.
  • Own a safe, insured vehicle
  • Good driving record
  • Nannies need to be a non-smoker. It is important that they are in good health and must be able to perform the essential physical functions of a nanny job.
  • 21 or older
  • Ability to work with a family for a minimum of one (1) year. We do not do summer only placements.

Additional qualifiers that are helpful, but not required:

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain certification
  • Post secondary education specific to child care, education or related field

 


LIVE-OUT NANNY POSITIONS (full and part time)

Jobs are listed in alphabetical order based on location.

Type of Position: Part Time, 20 hours per week in four half days
Start Date: October/November, they need to provide one month notice to current daycare center
Location: Chanhassen
Children:  6 month, 3 and 5 year old girls and an 8 year old boy who will be in school
Compensation: To $20 per hour, depending on qualifications.
Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays
Hours/Days: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM. This is the ideal schedule but the family could also consider three longer days
Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience with infant to young school age children and more than one young child at a time, preferred is back ground in education
Description: The children are currently attending a Montessori school and the nanny will be caring for the three younger girls. The parents are seeking a nanny who will want to have fun singing and playing with the children but also challenge them to progress academically. They would like the nanny to provide structure and routines and ideally have some kind of lesson plan for the children. A nanny who can partner with the parents in providing a good academic, moral and social foundation for the children will thrive in this happy Christian home.

Type of Position: Full Time, 36 to 40 hours in four days 
Start Date:  September or October
Location: Deephaven, near Minnetonka Blvd and Highway 101
Children:  2 month old, 3 year and 5 1/2 year old girls
Compensation:  Up to $20 per hour, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation, paid holidays and will consider a contribution to medical insurance
Hours/Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM for 36 hours. If the nanny would like to work 40 hours, she could stay later and work until 5:00 PM or work one week night for a date night.
Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for infant to young school age children, desire to cook and prep meals
Description: The parents are seeking a nanny to provide great care for their daughters in a loving safe and fun environment. It's important that the nanny have experience with young infants as this is the majority of the child care required. The older girl is in full time kindergarten and takes the bus. The 3 year old is in part time preschool and the nanny will need to transport her.  Providing healthy meals for the girls is important and the family would really value some help with dinner prep. This could be done late afternoon between 4-5 when the mother arrives home and she then could spend quality time with her daughters. If you're looking for a fun, active family to work with, this could be the job for you!

Compensation:  Up to $16 per hour, depending on qualifications

Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for toddler and preschool age children, nanny experience, education related to child development is a plus
Description: The primary focus of this job is to provide the children with quality care and a mix of structured learning activities and unstructured play. The parents are looking for a loving, outgoing and caring nanny who wants to be part of their family.

Type of Position: Part Time
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Excelsior/Navarre
Children: 2 month and 19 month old boys
Compensation:  $20+ per hour, depending on qualifications.
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays and sick days
Hours/Days: The preferred schedule is Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, the family does have some flexibility to consider other schedules. It would be a bonus if the nanny is seeking additional hours and willing to do occasional evening work but this is not required.
Additional Qualifiers: Experience working with infant and toddler age children, swimming skills and comfortable in the water, infant/child CPR or willing to obtain 
Description: This family is seeking an experienced child care provider to work with them over a long period of time with whom they can develop a trusted and familial relationship. The primary focus of this job is to provide high quality care for one or both of the children.  The mother does not work outside the home and is seeking nanny care so she can run errands, manage the household and spend 1-1 time with each child. There may be times that mother, nanny and children go on outings together. They live on a lake so water safety skills are important. The father works from a home office and has no childcare responsibilities during the work day.  They do have the flexibility to accommodate a potential change in days and are open to having the nanny position evolve as their needs and possibly the nanny's needs may change. They hope to think of the nanny as a member of their family over time.
Pets: One 4 year old Visla who is loving to those he knows and great and playful with the children

Start Date: January 2016
Location: Minneapolis, Kenwood
Children:  4 month old infant boy
Compensation: To $720 per week, depending on qualifications
Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays and will consider a contribution to medical insurance
Hours/Days: Monday through Friday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, some adjustments to this schedule may be necessary, 40 hours
Additional Qualifiers: Previous child care experience, experience caring for young infants
Description: This position is with a busy professional couple who are seeking an experienced loving provider for their son. They are looking for a warm, caring and detail oriented person. In addition to child care, they would like help with some basic household tasks, dinner prep and errands to support their family. The parents both work from home at times and it's important to them that the nanny respects their work time.
Pets: One small friendly cat


Type of Position: Part Time, average of 12 week days per month for a 10 hour day, 120 hours per month
Start Date: Mid September through mid July of 2016
Location: Minneapolis, near Lake Nokomis
Children:  12 week old infant girl
Compensation: To $18 per hour, depending on qualifications.
Benefits: NA
Hours/Days: Average of 12 week days per month, 7:00 AM  to 5:00-5:30 PM; the days will vary and the nanny will know the schedule for the year by the end of August
Additional Qualifiers: Experience caring for young infants, infant CPR certified or willing to obtain
Description: The primary focus of this job is to provide excellent care for the infant girl. The parents are laid back but expect the very best when it comes to caring for their daughter. They will treat the nanny with respect and expect the same from her with the ultimate goal is that she will feel like part of the family. They are an active family that enjoys outdoors activities.
Pets: One Miniature Schnauzer and one Bengal (hypoallergenic) cat


Type of Position: Part or Full time, 30+ hours per week (see details below)
Start Date:  September 14 would be ideal but could consider later September
Location: North Oaks
Children:  2, 6 and 9 year old boys and  4 1/2 year old girl
Compensation: To $18 per hour, depending on qualifications.
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays, sick days and willing to consider a contribution to medical insurance, the family provides a minivan for transporting the children
Hours/Days: 30+ hours per week, the family would like a nanny to work three 10 hour days and she can choose the days. They can provide additional hours up to 40 if the nanny can work extra hours for a date night, help with coverage for weekend activities and/or is willing to do more household duties to include family laundry.
Additional Qualifiers: Experience with toddler to school age children and with multiple children, experience with children with special needs and/or sign language skills is a plus but not requirement
Description: Most of the nanny's time will be spent with the 2 year old boy, who has Down Syndrome, and the 4 year old girl who attends part time preschool. However, there may be days when the nanny is caring for all 4 children. They love arts and crafts, reading, music, board games, bike rides, sports and just playing. This is a lively and wholesome household and the children are loving, silly and creative. They don't watch TV or have access to video games except as a special treat or movie night. They prefer to eat non-processed, whole grain and otherwise healthy foods. The nanny needs to be comfortable with a parent being home at times either working or spending time with the children.  This family is looking forward to welcoming a warm, energetic and caring person into their home and family!

Type of Position: Part Time, 22 to 24 hours per week in three days
Start Date:  September
Location: Plymouth
Children:  15, 13 and 7 year old boys and 11 year old girl
Compensation: To $22 per hour, depending on qualifications.
Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays and will consider a contribution to medical insurance. Family provides vehicle for driving the children.
Hours/Days: Three days per week, start at 10-10:30 AM and work until 5:45 PM. Tuesday is always a non work day. The other non work day will vary but nanny will know the schedule about two months in advance.
Additional Qualifiers: Experience with school age children and household duties 
Description: This busy family is seeking a combination of after school childcare and some household help.  The children are busy with after school activities this may involve driving. They take the bus home from school.  The additional hours are for household help such as children's laundry, grocery shopping, errands and preparing a simple family dinner. This family has employed the same nanny for 15 years, since the oldest was an infant. It's only due to her retirement that they are seeking another person to be with their family.
Pets: Australian Labradoodle


Type of Position: Part Time, guaranteed for 30 hours per week, 3-4 days flexible schedule (see details below)
Start Date:  September 14 would be ideal but could consider later September
Location: Roseville, Lake Owasso
Children:  1 and 3 year old girls
Compensation: To $20 per hour, depending on qualifications.
Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays
Hours/Days: Average of 30 hours per week in 3-4 days between the hours of 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, the weekly hours could fluctuate between 25-35. The parents like to plan 1-3 months in advance and are willing to work with a nanny to establish the calendar.
Additional Qualifiers: Experience with toddler and preschool age children, previous nanny experience preferred, able to work flexible schedule 
Description: It's important to the parents that the nanny is physically active, enjoys getting outdoors year round with the girls and can swim as they live on a lake. The girls love art projects, music and other structured activities. The parents are seeking a nanny who can provide socialization opportunities for the girls through some classes, events and outings and also do preschool drop off/pick up as needed. Help with meal planning and food prep would be a big plus.

Description: These parents are seeking a nanny who will partner with them and help them teach their sons as they grow and develop. The boys enjoy art projects, classes, park time, play dates and learning activities. A loving, high energy, social, responsible and independent nanny will enjoy this fun active family. They have successfully employed a nanny referred by our service for several years.

Type of Position: Part Time, 20 to 25+ hours per week
Start Date:  September
Location: St Louis Park, near Cedar Lake
Children:  5, 8 and 9 1/2 year old girls
Compensation: To $20 per hour, depending on qualifications.
Benefits: Paid vacation and holidays, mini van provided for driving the children
Hours/Days: Three afternoon/evenings per week, Monday through Thursday; for example Monday 12-7:30 PM, Tuesday 2-7:30 PM and Thursday 2-9:00 PM, the later evening until 9:00 can be flexible. They could employ a nanny more hours if she is interested in more household management responsibilities, or if flexible to work on non school days but this is not required.
Additional Qualifiers: Experience with school age children and household duties 
Description: This busy family is seeking a combination of after school childcare and some household help.  The job involves picking the girls up from school, overseeing homework and driving to activities.   The early afternoon hours are for household help such as laundry, grocery shopping, errands and preparing a simple family dinner. The parents have employed nannies successfully for many years and have always valued them and treated them like members of the family.

Type of Position: Part Time, 25 hours per week
Start Date: September
Location: St Paul, near the river
Children:  17 year old girl
Compensation: To $20 per hour, depending on qualifications.
Benefits: Paid vacation, holidays, paid sick days and open to discuss a contribution to medical insurance
Hours/Days: Monday through Friday 1:00 to 6:00 PM
Additional Qualifiers: Experience with household duties, cooking and working with teens 
Description: The parents are seeking a smart, kind, well organized, neat, fun and responsible person to help care for their home and dog and supervise teen daughter. Household duties to include meal preparation, laundry, errands, feeding and walking the dog and supervision of repair and service people  Heavy housecleaning is not expected.  This family has employed nannies through our service for many years. They enjoy family time together and value a strong work ethic and mutual respect.

Type of Position: Full Time Home Manager, salaried position
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Shoreview
Children:  None
Compensation: To $41,600 annually, depending on qualifications.
Benefits: Paid vacation and medical and dental insurance
Hours/Days: Monday through Friday start between 7:00-8:00 AM and be done between 4:00-5:00 PM, there is some flexibility in this. There are also times outside of this regular schedule that you need to drop off or pick up employers at the airport, 2-4 times per month. They could consider employing someone for less than 40 hours, compensation adjusted for this.
Additional Qualifiers: Previous employment experience in home management and cleaning, able to plan and prepare healthy meals,  potential for long term employment
Description: This position is with a busy executive couple. They are looking for a warm, caring and detail oriented person to prepare healthy meals, do housekeeping and laundry, run personal errands, provide pet care and perform miscellaneous household tasks. It's important that you are a self starter, confidential, detail oriented and personally value health and fitness.
